IGP Commissions 300+ Housing Units and New Facilities in Kano
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, commissioned over 300 modern residential units and various new facilities for police personnel in Kano State. The initiative is a key part of the Nigeria Police Force's strategic nationwide effort to improve the welfare and operational capacity of its officers.
The newly constructed police barracks and accommodation facilities are located at Bompai and Zaria Road. The project includes over 300 residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, a standard armoury, a transport workshop, worship centers, paved internal roads, and other integrated support infrastructure.
During the commissioning ceremony, IGP Egbetokun stated that the initiative aims to improve the living conditions of police officers, boost morale, and enhance their overall effectiveness. He delivered a powerful message, declaring, "No officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night." This statement underscored his administration's focus on linking officer welfare directly to performance.
The IGP described the project as a "nationwide blueprint of strategic transformation," designed to usher in a new era of policing that is modern, motivated, and ready for its mission. He confirmed that similar efforts are underway in other states. Egbetokun thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support for the police and praised the private sector partners for the timely and high-quality completion of the project. The Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the new facilities as a significant morale booster for the officers and their families.
