Katsina State Incidents
Attacks in Malumfashi: On Thursday, August 14, 2025, armed bandits launched attacks in the Malumfashi Local Government Area. The assaults resulted in the death of a local government employee known as Aminu "Over-Over," who was killed on his farm. In a separate incident, a former council vice chairman, Nasiru Dayi, was abducted from his home.
Failure of Peace Deals: These attacks are a continuation of a troubling trend in Katsina, where residents report a worsening security situation. The incidents also suggest a breakdown in recent peace agreements, including one in the Safana Local Government Area on August 11, 2025, which was reportedly intended to end attacks in the Gemi Forest.
Kebbi State Police Response
Successful Rescue Operation: In a positive development, the Kebbi State Police Command, in a joint effort with vigilantes and local hunters, successfully rescued two kidnap victims on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Rescue Details: The rescue took place in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area after a gunfight with the bandits. The victims, Tukur Bello (26) and Isyaka Abubakar (25), were originally abducted on August 9, 2025, while grazing their cattle in a forest in neighboring Zamfara State.
