New Collector Road CN2 Zakari A. Kiari Street Inaugurated in Mabushi, Abuja
Mabushi, Abuja – A new collector road, CN2 Zakari A. Kiari Street, was officially inaugurated today in Mabushi, Abuja. This project is set to significantly ease traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, and reduce travel time for residents in the district.
The inauguration ceremony drew a distinguished gathering of key government officials, including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also in attendance were community leaders and officials from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration.
Infrastructure Development: A Top Priority
Delivering President Tinubu's message, the Deputy Speaker reiterated the federal government's commitment to infrastructure development, describing road projects as a "smart investment in the nation's future."
"My administration will continue to invest in critical infrastructure – roads, bridges, housing, transport, education, and health – because we understand that infrastructure is the foundation of national development, and that infrastructure is not an expenditure but a good investment for the people," Mr. Kalu stated. He further assured attendees, "Let me assure you that we are not relenting until every Nigerian in every corner of this country feels the impact of good governance. We are committed, very much committed."
FCT Minister Warns Ground Rent Defaulters
In his remarks, the FCT Minister issued a strong warning to property owners who have failed to pay their ground rent.
"Those of you who say that we seize their houses for not paying our ground rent, see the value, see the product of paying our ground rent. If you don't pay, nobody provides this infrastructure, because the only thing the city has is just to collect tax," the Minister declared. He added, "If you know you have land here and you have not paid, I will publish your name that you have not paid. It has nothing to do that I want to embarrass you, no, we need the money to build the roads that we are doing."
Event Concludes with Inspection of Ongoing Projects
The event concluded with the official inauguration of the road, followed by an inspection of other ongoing projects across the FCT. This continued push by the administration aims to deliver quality infrastructure for the benefit of all residents.
