Governor Of Akwa Ibom State Umo Eno Officially Defects from PDP To PAC.
The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This announcement comes just a few days after the governor stated that it was time for him to transition to the APC.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, the governor explained that this move aligns the state with the APC at the federal level, following extensive consultations. Notable APC governors present at the event included the chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum and the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, among others.
“I needed to consult every one of you, to inform you and seek your counsel,” the governor said. “I wanted to explain why I am making this move. The consultation culminated in my meeting with all the critical stakeholders in the PDP last night, where I took the time to explain the reasons for our transition. As the childreIssacharsacha, we must interpret the times and move with the tide rather than against it.”
Having completed his rounds of consultation, he stated, “As your elected servant, I have decided to progressively move to the All Progressives Congress. [Applause] The APC is a movement, a great party driven largely at the grassroots level. Today, we have gathered to support the governor of Akwa Ibom, who is among Nigeria's best and brightest leaders. We are here to encourage him in this significant leadership decision. It is the role and responsibility of a leader to make decisions for the greater good of those they represent.”
