Federal Government Sets Up Committee to Review Minimum Wage
The Federal Government has announced a tripartite committee—including representatives from labour unions, employers, and government—to review Nigeria’s minimum wage.
The panel has three months to present recommendations that balance living cost pressures, inflation, and business sustainability. Labour leaders have urged a benchmark of ₦250,000 monthly, citing recent hikes in food and housing costs.
The government emphasized a data-driven approach. The committee will conduct nationwide stakeholder engagement and submit its report by end of September 2025.
