Nigerian Musician K1 Ultimate Apologizes After Airport Incident
LAGOS — Popular Nigerian Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 Ultimate, has issued a public apology following a widely reported incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025. The musician was accused of causing a disturbance after allegedly delaying a flight from Abuja to Lagos.
In a press statement, K1 Ultimate expressed his regret and took full responsibility for his actions, which he described as "highly regrettable." He explained that the incident occurred while he was attempting to board a flight, and he sought to clarify the situation surrounding a cup he was carrying. According to his statement, the cup was screened at two checkpoints without issue, and he later poured water into it for his health, as he needed to stay hydrated.
K1 Ultimate acknowledged his long-standing career and role as a "good ambassador" for Nigeria. He appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Aviation, regulatory bodies like the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the airline, and the pilot for forgiveness.
The incident sparked a significant public conversation about accountability, with many Nigerians on social media and in local reports questioning whether high-profile individuals are held to the same legal standards as ordinary citizens.
