Kano Governor Sacks Two Aides Over Misconduct and Corruption
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed two Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) following their indictment in separate cases of misconduct and corruption. The sackings were announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Farouk Ibrahim, on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Details of the Cases:
Abubakar Umar Sharada: The Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation was removed after an investigative committee found him to be the "mastermind" behind securing bail for a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
Tasiu Adamu Al'amin Roba: The Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office was dismissed following his arrest for allegedly re-bagging and diverting government palliative grains in 2024. He has since been arraigned in court on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy.
Both individuals have been instructed to return all government property in their possession by Monday, August 11, 2025, and have been warned against presenting themselves as public officials.
The governor's office reiterated its commitment to a "zero-tolerance policy for corruption and misconduct." This decision comes after a related development where the state's Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, resigned his position last week following his indictment in the controversial bail case of the suspected drug baron.
