Kyiv intensifies counteroffensive as Western support surges.
In a dramatic escalation of the conflict, Ukraine has launched its most extensive drone offensive on Russian soil to date, targeting fuel depots, military bases, and communication towers in Belgorod and Kursk regions. Ukrainian officials say the attacks are part of a “deep disruption campaign” aimed at weakening Russian logistics.
Dozens of drones evaded Russian air defenses overnight, igniting fires and triggering evacuations in several towns. The Kremlin has condemned the strikes as “state terrorism,” vowing swift retaliation. Moscow also claims to have downed 42 drones before they hit their targets.
Western allies, particularly the UK and Germany, have praised Ukraine’s innovative strategy and pledged additional drone technology and ammunition. NATO has reiterated its support for Kyiv, with Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stating, “Ukraine has the right to defend itself on all fronts.”
Military analysts say the shift from static defense to strategic disruption marks a new phase in the war. While risks of escalation remain, Ukraine appears determined to turn the tide of the conflict before winter.
