Troops Dismantle Bandit Strongholds, Recover Motorcycles in Taraba State
In a significant victory against criminal elements, troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully dismantled several bandit hideouts and recovered five motorcycles in an intelligence-led operation in Taraba State. Launched on July 5, 2025, the operation specifically targeted remote areas in the southern part of Wukari Local Government Area, known strongholds of notorious bandit leader Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, also identified as "Bajor."

Acting on credible intelligence that Bajor was convening a meeting, the troops swiftly moved in. Upon their arrival, the criminals, sensing imminent danger, fled the scene, abandoning various valuable items. The operation led to the destruction of key hideouts used by the syndicate for coordinating attacks and harboring weapons. The five recovered motorcycles are suspected to have been used for rapid movement and raids on surrounding communities.
While Bajor and his cohorts narrowly escaped, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS, confirmed that troops remain on high alert and are actively tracking their movements. He reiterated the Nigerian Army's unwavering commitment to pursuing and neutralizing all criminal elements threatening the peace and security of law-abiding citizens in Taraba State and beyond. Brigadier General Uwa also urged residents to continue providing timely and actionable information to security agencies to support ongoing operations, emphasizing that this operation is part of a broader clearance campaign aimed at flushing out criminal elements from the state.
