Tiffany Meek Seeks Bail in Son's Murder Case at Roodepoort Court
"Tiffany Nicole Meek, 31, is currently undergoing her bail application hearing at the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court in Johannesburg. She stands accused of the murder of her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, in addition to charges of crimen injuria, obstruction of justice, and defeating the ends of justice.
Jayden-Lee was reported missing on May 13, 2025, after being dropped off by his school transport at their Fleurhof apartment complex. Tragically, his bruised body was discovered the following morning on the apartment block's staircase. Forensic evidence suggests Jayden-Lee was killed inside his home, having sustained a fatal blow to the head from an "unknown" hard object. Blood was reportedly found on his bed, school clothes, bag, and schoolbooks within the apartment.
Meek was arrested on July 11, 2025, and made her initial court appearance on July 14, 2025. She has vehemently denied the accusations and intends to plead not guilty. In an affidavit, Meek claims she is being framed by the police, alleging that incriminating evidence found in her apartment was planted during a second forensic collection on May 16, 2025.
The State is opposing bail, arguing that releasing Meek would not serve the interests of justice. The investigating officer has provided testimony detailing the opening of the missing person's case, the subsequent search for Jayden-Lee, and interviews conducted with the school transport driver and complex security personnel.
The bail hearing is ongoing today, July 21, 2025."
