NATO’s Rutte to meet Trump in Washington alongside weapons envoy
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte will visit Washington D.C. on July 14–15 to meet with President Trump, Secretary Rubio, and Defense Secretary Hegseth . The visit coincides with Trump’s announcement of a Patriot missile shipment to Ukraine .
Rutte’s visit is expected to include negotiations on financing and transit of American-made air defense systems to Kyiv, as European NATO allies will foot the bill . A high-level U.S. envoy, Keith Kellogg, also traveled to Kyiv to discuss logistics and sanctions coordination .
The talks underscore a renewed transatlantic effort in arms provision to Ukraine, even as broader tensions with Russia rise. Observers will closely watch whether the summit solidifies a unified approach or exposes crack points in NATO support.
