India urges China to avoid trade restrictions as ties thaw

Wang Yi agreed, noting "good progress" over the past nine months in pulling back troops and diffusing tensions . Officials said both sides aim to broaden exchanges in technology, infrastructure, and culture.
Analysts see this diplomatic engagement as part of cautious rebuilding after the 2020 border clashes. However, deeper friction—such as tech restrictions—remains unresolved, and mutual trust takes time to restore.
With both nations vying for global influence against Western economies, trade openness could be a cornerstone of their bilateral modernization agenda.
