Atiku, Peter Obi and other opposition leaders launch coalition to challenge Tinubu in 2027.
A new opposition coalition called the Africa Democratic Congress has been formed by key figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, former governors and legislators to contest President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general election.
This alliance aims to prevent one‑party dominance and restore democratic pluralism amid allegations that the APC is using state machinery to influence defections and weaken the opposition.
Interim chairman David Mark emphasized that only a unified front can effectively challenge the ruling party, recalling how the 2015 opposition coalition ended 16 years of PDP rule.
Analysts note Nigeria’s economic woes, including inflation and subsidy reforms, have widened opportunity for opposition messaging as political momentum builds toward 2027.
