Former President Obasanjo to Chair NBA Conference Opening in Enugu
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, has confirmed he will chair the Opening Ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference (AGC) in 2025. The conference is scheduled to hold in Enugu State from August 22 to August 28, 2025.
The NBA announced Obasanjo's confirmation following a courtesy visit by a delegation, including NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and the Chairman of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, to Obasanjo's residence.
The 2025 NBA AGC is themed "Stand Out, Stand Tall." The delegation briefed the former President on the conference's objectives and theme. Obasanjo reportedly accepted the invitation, acknowledging the NBA's initiatives in national engagement and legal reform.
The conference's venue was recently changed to Enugu from Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The NBA cited concerns over a declared state of emergency and alleged constitutional violations in Rivers State, specifically the appointment of a Sole Administrator, as reasons for the relocation. Enugu State has indicated its readiness to host the event at its new International Conference Centre.
