ADC warns Nigeria has become a global afterthought under APC rule.
Nigeria’s opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), issued a sharp rebuke today, claiming the nation has lost its international standing under the ruling APC. The ADC blamed “mismanagement and eroded diplomatic credibility” for Nigeria’s diminishing influence on the global stage.
According to ADC officials, Nigeria’s handling of key economic and foreign-policy challenges—particularly its recent minimal role in US–Africa trade discussions—has sidelined it from major global decisions. The party warned this trend threatens long-term development prospects.
This criticism comes on the heels of President Tinubu’s absence from a high-level US–Africa summit—a move that ADC described as “damaging.” The ADC contends that active engagement with global powers is essential to attract foreign investment and resolve Nigeria’s economic woes.
While the government maintains its foreign-policy decisions are strategic, the ADC’s warnings resonate with growing public anxiety. Civic groups and some economists have echoed the call for renewed diplomatic activism.
