Tinubu Hands over APC flag To Anambra Governorship candidate
How prepared are you to take on a significant role? We are part of a party with considerable strength. When we say we are strong, it is because we have built that strength together. I was a former senatorial candidate and I come from Apoga. I ran on a joint ticket with the current governor in the last election. I left Apoga with all my supporters and the people of Apoga to join the APC. My deputy also transitioned from Apoga to join us in the APC, making our party even larger.
With my background from the south and my deputy’s from the center, our unity within the APC leaves nothing behind for the state. We are bringing momentum to this movement. When the president visited, he witnessed the overwhelming crowd that came out to support his party members, who were filled with joy and enthusiasm from morning until he departed. It is important to acknowledge this.
Bringing Anambra back to the center while dealing with an incumbent is undoubtedly a tough task. Are we considering coalitions? Yes, we already have several in place. Various political parties, including Labour and others, have joined us on this journey. Soon, you will see endorsements coming in from numerous organizations and supporters.
We currently have more than 80 support groups lined up to endorse us, which includes members from other parties, including those from Apoga and Labour. Coalitions are not new; incumbents have lost elections in Zamfara and other places, and Anambra is no exception. Historically, incumbents in Anambra have lost elections because their leaders did not support them. Now that those leaders have joined the APC, we are ready to bring Anambra to our side.
After the primaries in the APC, we will work to reunite our supporters. Recently, there have been some challenges, but the national working committee of our party, under the leadership of Ganduje, has established a powerful reconciliation committee that has made significant progress. While a few individuals have left, the vast majority of the party structure remains intact and unified.
We are making substantial strides, and you in the press will soon witness the results of our efforts. It is going to be remarkable. We wish you success. Thank you very much.
