Tinubu Hails Sanwo-Olu at 60: Acknowledges Visionary Leadership and Lagos's Progress
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated today, June 25, 2025. The President's message, conveyed through his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, was replete with commendations for Governor Sanwo-Olu's dedication to public service and the remarkable development strides in Lagos.
In his congratulatory note, President Tinubu highlighted Governor Sanwo-Olu's extensive public service career, which notably began under Tinubu's own mentorship. He recalled Sanwo-Olu's distinguished roles, including Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation and a three-time Commissioner across key ministries such as Economic Planning and Budget; Commerce and Industry; and Establishments, Training, and Pensions.
President Tinubu lauded the Governor's "steadfast commitment to Lagos State's growth and development," specifically noting his consistent alignment with the transformative master plan that Tinubu himself established during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State (1999–2007).
The President particularly praised landmark achievements under Sanwo-Olu's administration, citing the completion of the Blue and Red Rail lines as significant milestones. He also acknowledged the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which is expected to serve the vital Lekki corridor.
Looking ahead, President Tinubu urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to "sustain this trajectory by prioritising impactful projects for Lagosians." He specifically mentioned the "long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road" as critical projects for continued focus.
