We have noticed many individuals promoting and inciting ethnic and sectional sentiments against the government of Tulum. Let me be very clear: this is a government that has been elected into office, and people have the right to hold it accountable. They can criticize it and even oppose it. However, we must ask ourselves: Are you criticizing the government simply because you feel excluded from it? Are you opposing it because you believe you are not part of the system, or is your criticism based on genuine differences in principles and governance? These are crucial questions to consider.
I want to address all Nigerians, particularly those in the north. You should resist individuals who failed to address the socioeconomic problems of northern Nigeria when they had the chance and are now inciting the public against the government. Critics should be heard, and where they are wrong, they should be challenged. This country will thrive if there is equitable development across all parts of Nigeria.
For those of us from this region, we appreciate the progress that has been made so far. Those who had the opportunity to improve the situation but failed should apologize for the harm they have caused to the people of the north and the masses. They should not incite us against a government that is performing much better than past administrations. We should not be stirred against a president who has supported our region for eight years.
I have heard numerous comments often laced with sectional, ethnic, and even religious sentiments. It's crucial to put this in proper perspective. Since 1999, the northwestern part of Nigeria has produced two presidents: President Musa and President Muhammadu Buhari. In all these elections, the southwestern part of Nigeria has supported the north and has not posed any serious challenge to the smooth running of President Buhari's administration. Therefore, it is only logical to allow the south to complete their term in power for the sake of peace, unity, and the survival of our democracy.
