Opposition Coalition Applies For Registration Of New Party : All Democratic Alliance (ADA)
The political landscape is buzzing as the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOC), a powerful alliance of major national political figures, has officially written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register its newly formed political party: the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
This significant development comes ahead of the 2027 general election and sees prominent figures like former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, playing a key role. The group is chaired by none other than former Senate President, David Mark.
In a statement dated May 19th and jointly signed by Mr. Amaechi and Mr. Umar Audu (serving as chairman and secretary of the new platform committee, respectively), the NOC confirmed this move. This follows a crucial coalition meeting held in Abuja on May 6th.
The NOC, which comprises 15 members, was specifically mandated to form an association and apply to INEC for the registration of a new political party. At a meeting of the new platform committee held yesterday, the formation of the ADA as a political association was officially approved. The committee also greenlit the party's logo, slogan, motto, manifesto, and constitution. Furthermore, an interim leadership has been appointed, with Mr. Arikekpar S. Ekwere as pro-tem chairman and Abdullahi Laya as pro-tem secretary.
