Kaduna Police Nab "Dan Saudia" for Incitement, Drug Possession
The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a prominent social media commentator, Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, popularly known as "Dan Saudia," in a targeted raid in the Rigasa area of Igabi Local Government Area. The arrest, which occurred on Sunday, comes amid a renewed police commitment to curbing the spread of inciteful content online.
According to DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command's Public Relations Officer, "Dan Saudia" has gained notoriety for making "inciteful and misleading comments on social media platforms with the intent to disrupt public peace and security." The police statement emphasized his alleged role in stirring disharmony through his online activities.
Beyond the allegations of incitement, DSP Hassan revealed that during the arrest, Comrade Mustapha Abubakar was caught actively smoking and found in possession of a significant quantity of dried leaves strongly suspected to be Indian hemp. This adds a drug possession charge to the charges he is expected to face.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has reaffirmed the command's unwavering commitment to ridding Kaduna State of individuals who exploit social media to incite unrest or promote unlawful activities. He issued a stern warning to the public to be cautious of their online conduct, emphasizing that anyone found violating the law will be "decisively dealt with."
