A 53-year-old French woman was conned into giving over $855,000 to scammers using AI who generated images of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.
Over 1.5 years, the scammers convinced Anne that Pitt had kidney cancer and needed money for treatment.
They even used an account claiming to be Jane Etta Pitt, the Hollywood star’s mother, and sent emails to Anne from ‘doctors’ to empathize with the severity of his illness.
The interior designer only discovered the scam after seeing healthy images of the real Pitt with his partner Inès de Ramon.
