National grid to improve  from 4,694mw to 7,000mw

The national grid has faced significant set back this year with it second major collapse in January but recent research shows more action has been taking to prevent future outage.

The new goal is set for this upcoming June aiming to achieve full technical recovery that will allow Nigeria to have a backup that will be in cooperation with the west African power pool WAPP and the Nigerian independent system operator NISO, this interconnection will provide a significantly reduction of the risk of total Nationwide blackout.

The NISO is providing situational awareness to help engineers to grip grid imbalance before it collapse.

The new capacity target is 7,000mw with new substation targeted to be completed by December 2026.

Their is also new generation improvement from the first half of April from 3,951mw to 4,300mw peaking at 4,694mw.
