World Mission Sunday and a Holy Mass, Canonisation is taking place at the Vatican




The Vatican is celebrating a major event for the Catholic Church today 19th of October at the city as the second-to-last Sunday of October is to celebrate the annual World Mission Sunday with a Holy Mass and Canonisation.


The theme for this year is Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples as the chosen theme is to resonate with 2025 jubilee year as its message is hope

 

The mass will be lead by Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter's Square also the ceremony will be a very special one as their will be canonization of seven new saints.


The seven new saints are José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros from Venezuela, María del Carmen Rendiles Martínez She is Venezuela's first female saint, Bartolo Longo, Ignazio Choukrallah Maloyan from Armenian a martyr during the 1915 Armenian Genocide, Peter To Rot martyr during the Japanese occupation in World War II, Vincenza Maria Poloni, and Maria Troncatti.


New saints offering diverse models of holiness, external challenges, power of Faith in spiritual personal are the main highlight during the ceremony 


A video containing a message by Pope Leo XIV was released urging participation of Catholic parish by contributing to the annual collection of the Society for the Propagation of Faith and praying for missionaries, as the funds are used to build schools, churches, funds for pastoral and catechetical programs.
