President Zelenskyy alongside European leaders released a join statement
Several European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a join statement that openly approved president trump's push for a ceasefire setting a clear red line in negotiations for peace.
The statement was signed by President Zelenskyy, Prime Ministers of UK, Italy, Poland, Presidents of France, the Chancellor of Germany and the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The leaders supported the effort of president trump stating that they strongly support President Trump's position that the fighting should stop immediately, and that the current line of contact should be the starting point of negotiations.
In the statement they also noted that they remain committed to the principle of international borders must not be changed by force, emphasizing that Ukraine should not be force to join borders with any nation and Ukraine can not be force to accept Russia's permanent territory occupied as a means for peace negotiations.
They also stressed that more pressure will be add on Russia's economy and its defense industry and plans to develop new measures to use on the full value of Russia's immobilised sovereign assets to provide resources for Ukraine.
Russia was accused of stalling tactics, chooses violence and destruction in their statement they also state that Ukraine must be in the strongest possible position before, during, and after any ceasefire.
These statement represents a coordinated effort by European union and the Ukrainian government ahead of the Budapest summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin .
This statement is aimed to set boundaries against any future peace talk to prevent a narrative that any peace deal would involve ceding lands, and a meeting during the European counsel meeting.
