New INEC Chairman has been sworn in
Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan SAN, was officially sworn in by President Bola Tinubu as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, at the State House Council Chamber in Abuja.
The official sworn in took place on Thursday 23rd of October at the State House Council Chamber in Abuja, professor Amupitan was a renowned Professor of Law and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
Professor Amupitan is from the north central kogi state precisely, he is also the first person from the state to occupy the position, his nomination was confirmed by the Nigeria's sanate on the 16th of October.
During his swearing in ceremony, president Tinubu emphasized on the responsibility and expectation placed on the new INEC Chairman and urged him to give his highest standard of integrity to make Nigeria's democracy more flourishing.
The upcoming Anambra state election will be the first measure test for the new leadership of the INEC.
