Kano state hisba has halted a court-ordered wedding between two TikTokers, re-opened legal action against them

The two individuals are Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda who are popular TikTok content creators in Kano state.

Their arrest was arranged by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board for allegedly producing and circulating videos on social media that are immoral, indecent, and romantic gestures which goes against traditional and religious laws.

A Magistrate Court, presided over by Magistrate Halima Wali, suspended the ruling on the charges of 'immoral conduct.' Instead, the court ordered the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate and solemnise the marriage between Mai Wushirya and Yar Guda within 60 days.

The decision to Re-open Legal Action and to stop the Wedding was as result of the latest video confession by mai wushirya were he was seen declaring that he lied to the court about being in love with yar guda to escape prosecution and legal consequences of the indecent video charges. He also said that their public display of affection were mainly for entertainment and content.

Mai Wushirya has now admitted to lying under oath which sparked significant public and legal controversy.
