Hajj scandals deepen:as commissioner alleged secrecy 



The North-West zone commissioner by name Muhammed Bin-Usman of the  National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON confirms higher level of corruption backing an EFCC probe.


In his allegations Bin-Usman confirms that the Nigeria hajj commission is covered with rampant corruption, he reference with the latest concluded 2025 Hajj exercise.


Among his claims are Secrecy in Contract Awards to the extent that even the Director in charge of operations was not involved, Exclusion of Commissioners despite the NAHCON Act of 2006 requiring their involvement in decision-making, rampant corruption in contracts for hotel accommodation, feeding, and transportation, lack of accountability.



The EFCC probe focused mainly on the alleged diversion and misappropriation of over 50 billion in connection with the 2025 Hajj operations.



Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman Pakistan the chairman of NAHCON was released on administrative bail but is required to report daily and the security clearance of his villa was reportedly revoked.



Aliu Abdulrazak the NAHCON's Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, and Finance PPMF was detained since last month of September in connection with the scandal alongside the Director of Finance and Accounts DFA Aminu Y. Muhammed. Sirajo Salisu Usman who is the Deputy Director in the Chairman's Office and also a brother to the chairman was detained in connection to the 50 billion fraud.



The allegations against them as  indicated in the probe covers are 25 billion reportedly spent on Masha'ir tents, 7.9 billion on contingency housing, 1.6 billion in travel expenses for spouses of officials.



In a statement issued by NAHCON they neither confirmed nor denied the specific detentions but has affirmed its commitment to accountability and due process noting that they will not shield any staff or process found wanting, they will also maintain good relation with all relevant government agencies including anti-corruption bodies.
