The cause of the clash between Itsekiri and Urhobo Youths in Warri

In Delta State According to the Source On Saturday, August 23, 2025 said that the Fight between Itsekiri and Urhobo Youths is a thing that was started as a Previous argument which the Shakiri trying to claim land  (boundary) Which Make the Urhobo Youths to retaliate back to the Shakiri People, the Source also said the Itsekiri people are Celebrating the coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri and they are passing the Urhobo community with different types of claims with provocation slogans, because of population the Urhobo community have knowing that the Olu of Warri is the Main Kingdom of Warri.

 And as a community doing traditional celebration and you want to pass through others community, you are supposed to take permission from the others community elders that you want to pass by telling them, please we are doing something of celebrations and we are passing through your community and this is what we will be doing, do you (Urhobo community) accept it? But the Itsekiri did not asked from the Urhobo community Elders and this what lead to the crisis.

The Source also described that the Itsekiri only took permission from the government not the Community Elders and there passing by declaring provocation slogans that they the Itsekiri are the owner of Warri, that the Urhobo that found the Warri are stranger and thieve and because of that the Urhobo community youths stopped them for not passing that they should go back to Itsekiri were they came from, but Itsekiri people refuse to go back so the Urhobo Youths Started Exchange weapons like stone and wood before the state Police was order to make sure there is peace in the community.
