FCT Minister Reiterates Youth Empowerment is a Core Pillar of Tinubu's Agenda

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has stated that youth empowerment is a central and fundamental pillar of President Bola Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda." She made the statement at the closing ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation course in Abuja, emphasizing the administration's commitment to empowering Nigeria's youth.

Key details of the Minister's message:

Youth as the Driving Force: Dr. Mahmoud highlighted that the current administration views youths as the "driving force of Nigeria's future." She stated that the government's goal is to equip them with the skills to thrive in a competitive global economy, shifting their role from being "job seekers" to "job creators."

Government Initiatives: The Minister outlined several key initiatives being pursued under the "Renewed Hope Agenda" to achieve this goal. These include:

Skills Development: Providing young Nigerians with practical and vocational skills.

Entrepreneurship Support: Offering resources and support to help youths start and grow their own businesses.

Digital Innovation: Promoting digital literacy and innovation to prepare youths for the future economy.

Job Creation: Implementing initiatives specifically designed to create employment opportunities.

Support for NYSC: Dr. Mahmoud also assured the corps members that the FCT Administration, under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, is fully committed to supporting the NYSC's objectives and creating an enabling environment for corps members to thrive. She encouraged them to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, a part of the NYSC scheme.

Broader Context: The Minister's remarks align with other recent statements from government officials, which all point to youth empowerment as a core focus of the Tinubu administration. Other programs like the National Industrial Manpower Summit and the "Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP)" have also been launched or promoted to address youth unemployment and skills gaps.
