PSC and FCC Partner for Fair Police Recruitment
The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Federal Character Commission (FCC) are joining forces to ensure fairness and equity in the upcoming police recruitment exercise. This partnership aims to prevent fraud and ensure that only qualified Nigerians are selected for the Nigerian Police Force.
The collaboration was solidified during a visit by the PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimo Argungu, to the acting Executive Chairman of the FCC, Kyari Olad. Argungu emphasized the need for full cooperation from the FCC to ensure the Recruitment process adheres to constitutional guidelines regarding gender, state, and geopolitical representation.
"We feel there is a need to come and solicit your partnership and cooperation in doing this national assignment," Argungu stated. He stressed that anyone caught engaging in fraud or racketeering during the exercise will face severe consequences.
Olad welcomed the visit, highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration in upholding constitutional values. He reaffirmed the FCC's commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive police force, which he believes is crucial for building public trust and promoting national security.
The joint effort is in line with the federal government's "Renewed Hope" agenda and is seen as a crucial step towards building a more representative and effective police force that can better serve all citizens without bias.
