Russian Strikes Cause Casualties in Multiple Regions
Over the past 24 hours, Russia has intensified its assaults across Ukraine, employing missiles, guided aerial bombs, and suicide drones, according to Ukrainian officials. The attacks have resulted in a number of casualties and damaged civilian infrastructure:
Zaporizhzhia: A Russian attack on the Stepnohirsk community killed three people.
Kharkiv: Drone strikes in the Chuhuiv district claimed the lives of three individuals, including a man killed in a house fire and a man and a woman who were on a motorcycle.
Kherson: The governor reported that a Russian attack killed one person and damaged homes, cars, and a gas pipeline.
Donetsk: In the Donetsk region, one person was killed in each of the cities of Dobropillya and Kostiantynivka.
Ukraine Claims Successful Drone Strike on Crimean Airbase
In a retaliatory move, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has claimed a successful drone strike on the Saky airbase in Russian-occupied Crimea. The SBU stated that the attack hit five Russian fighter jets, with one Sukhoi Su-30SM aircraft being completely destroyed and four others damaged. An aviation weapons depot at the airfield was also reportedly struck.
The Saky airbase is a crucial military hub for Russia's operations in the Black Sea. The SBU described the attack as a strategic effort to degrade the enemy's capacity. While Russia has not yet confirmed the strike, and independent verification is difficult, the claim highlights the ongoing nature of Ukraine's strategy to target Russian assets behind the front lines.
