Lagos Completes 4,000 km Fibre Rollout to Support Tech Growth.
Lagos State has now installed over 4,000 km of fiber-optic cabling, a significant boost to Nigeria’s digital infrastructure. Olatunbosun Alake, Commissioner for Science and Innovation, confirmed this milestone at a recent tech forum in Lagos.
This extensive rollout solidifies Lagos's position as Nigeria’s leading startup hub, significantly improving connectivity for over 15 million residents and fostering the expansion of innovation-driven businesses. The achievement surpasses earlier projections and establishes a robust foundation for future digital growth.
Public-private partnerships were instrumental in meeting this ambitious target, with agreements facilitating streamlined deployment and reduced costs. Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded the initiative as essential to building a vibrant digital future for West Africa.
Experts believe that this stronger connectivity will attract increased foreign investment, accelerate innovation in e-commerce, fintech, and artificial intelligence, and help Lagos maintain its competitive edge in the global tech landscape.
