Eyewitness Account Emerges in Mohbad Case: Influencer Details Events Leading to Star's Death
Lagos, Nigeria – A key social media personality involved in the "Justice for Mohbad" campaign, known as "Spending," has provided a detailed account of events surrounding the tragic death of the popular artist Mohbad. Spending, who was with Mohbad in the days leading up to his demise, addressed allegations directly, particularly claims that he was present when Mohbad sustained injuries and that he called the nurse who administered an injection to the late musician.
Spending recounted the night of a show, stating that an altercation occurred between Mohbad and another individual, leading to a broken glass. He emphasized, "I no carry hand at all, punch and give and blow," denying any physical assault from his end. According to Spending, Mohbad was urged to calm down by those present, including himself. He also detailed how he used his own clothes to cover Mohbad’s bleeding arm.
The influencer clarified the sequence of events upon returning home after the show. He dismissed the notion that Mohbad was bleeding profusely from the start, stating, "He eat and just small [cut], but not bleed already." He then addressed the critical allegation of calling the nurse: "Why you say made them calling [of] nurse lead to calling of nurse? ... I just give them number. I don't know anything. I call, I commit, say I volunteer... I don't know anything." He maintained that he simply provided a contact for a nurse when Mohbad’s condition, which he initially perceived as minor, worsened.
Spending also touched on the strained relationship between Mohbad and his wife, claiming that arguments about money were frequent. He mentioned instances where Mohbad's wife allegedly owed him money and engaged in heated disputes with Mohbad, even while he was injured.
The social media personality described seeing Mubarak on Monday morning, the day before his death, around 11 AM. Mohbad reportedly asked him for a contact for treatment, to which Spending suggested a hospital. However, Mohbad preferred home treatment. Spending facilitated communication with a home-service nurse, but did not go upstairs with the nurse, nor did he see Mohbad alive after that Monday morning.
Spending expressed bewilderment over his four-month detention in connection with the case, stating he was held without clear reasons or access to legal representation. "They say maybe doing investigation. Leave the notification, they leave me. How long you did for cell? I did 4 months, bro," he lamented. He also questioned why close family members did not advocate for his release, given his proximity to Mohbad.
Addressing the widespread speculation about Mohbad's alleged substance use, Spending confirmed that Mohbad occasionally smoked and drank alcohol. However, he also highlighted Mohbad's frequent use of "laughing gas," which he himself disliked and described as a costly habit for Mohbad.
Spending concluded by reiterating his innocence and his unwavering belief that he had no malicious intent towards Mohbad. "I have no reason to haunt him and I don't... I don't do anything," he affirmed, maintaining that he merely acted to assist a friend in need.
