Prime Suspect in AAUA Students' Murder, Femi Oladele, Dies in Police Custody in Ondo State
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of Femi Oladele, popularly known as "Tallex," the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of two undergraduate students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA). Oladele reportedly died in hospital on Friday, July 18, 2025, after developing a "strange illness" while in police detention. The confirmation was made by the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Victims: The deceased students have been identified as Andrew Eloho Okah (25), a 200-level student of History and International Studies, and John Friday Abba (19), a 200-level student of Economics. Both were reported missing for several weeks before their bodies were discovered.
Suspect's Connection: Femi Oladele, alias "Tallex," was the landlord of one of the victims, John Abba. He was arrested by police detectives at a hotel in Akungba Akoko.
Circumstances of Death: According to the police spokesperson, Oladele had been receiving continuous medical attention since his arrest and had been "in and out of the hospital" under close supervision. He reportedly developed a sudden, strange illness after making a confessional statement and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed. Questions surrounding the exact time and circumstances of his death have reportedly been raised by some sources.
Allegations Against the Suspect:
Oladele is alleged to have masterminded the brutal killing of the two students.
Reports suggest he ordered a group of suspected cultists to "deal with" the victims due to an alleged disagreement or "disrespectful attitude" from Okah.
The students were reportedly abducted, robbed, and eventually murdered. Some earlier broader reports about the missing students included allegations of rape, although this specific detail isn't consistently tied directly to Oladele's admitted involvement.
Oladele reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting to the killing and burying their corpses in a shallow grave.
Discovery of Bodies: The decomposing remains of Andrew Eloho Okah were discovered in a shallow grave in a forest bordering Ondo and Ekiti states. Efforts are still ongoing to locate John Friday Abba's body.
Other Arrests and Evidence: Oladele was arrested alongside two other alleged accomplices, identified as Kola and Michael. These individuals are accused of withdrawing N800,000 from the late John Abba's bank account after the murder. A Lexus RX 350 vehicle belonging to Abba was also recovered from one of the suspects. Police investigations confirmed the transfer of the N800,000 from Abba's account during the period of their captivity.
