The Kaduna State Police Command has issued a directive prohibiting a planned rally by supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, which was intended to celebrate his birthday in the state. The decision, announced yesterday, Saturday, July 19, 2025, by the State Commissioner of Police, was primarily driven by intelligence reports indicating potential security threats and the risk of a breakdown of law and order, rather than a direct attempt to suppress political expression.

According to the Police Command, credible intelligence suggested that miscreants could potentially hijack the rally, leading to unforeseen circumstances and possibly endangering public safety.
