Elon Musk plans new third-party entry amid disillusionment with GOP and Democrats.
On July 4, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk reignited calls for a new political party—dubbed the “America Party”—citing frustration with both Republican and Democratic platforms.
Musk’s proposal, shared via X (formerly Twitter), seeks to target specific congressional districts to gain leverage in Washington, promoting a “true will of the people” ethos.
His shift follows public disagreements with Trump, especially over the recent budget bill, where Musk criticized cuts to electric vehicle subsidies . Trump responded with threats of probes into Musk’s government contracts.
Analysts say Musk’s potential third-party bid reflects broader elite disillusionment, but face an uphill battle given systemic barriers. Meanwhile, Musk’s partner-in-critique, Sam Altman, also identifies as “politically homeless”.
