Nigeria U20 draws 1–1 with Ghana to stay unbeaten in WAFU B Cup
Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, fought back from a goal down to earn a 1–1 draw against rivals Ghana in the opening match of the WAFU B U20 Boys Cup on July 10, 2025. Ghana struck first, but Abdullahi’s 83rd‑minute equaliser rescued the game for Nigeria.
The tightly contested derby, held at the Centre of Excellence in Prampram, showcased strong midfield battles and disciplined defending from both sides . Despite dominating early possession, Nigeria struggled to capitalise until the late strike that sparked celebrations.
Coach praised the squad’s resilience: "Coming from behind shows our maturity and mental strength," he said after the match. With the draw, Nigeria maintains a perfect unbeaten run in the group.
Next up, the Flying Eagles face another group opponent with hopes high to continue their charge toward the knockout stages.
