DSS Lauds ICPC's Unwavering Integrity and Professionalism
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has received a significant commendation from the Department of State Security (DSS) for its consistent record of professionalism and adherence to high ethical standards. This endorsement highlights the critical role the ICPC plays in upholding integrity within Nigeria's public sector.
The commendation was delivered by Mr. Babajide Adisa, the Lagos State Director of the Department of State Security (DSS), during a recent courtesy visit by the Lagos State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) of the ICPC, Mr. Alexander Chukwurah fsi, to the Lagos Command of the DSS.
While welcoming the ICPC team, Mr. Adisa stated, "It is a pleasure to host the ICPC. Our agencies have always shared a strong working relationship, and I can attest that our leadership continues to collaborate closely behind the scenes. The ICPC has distinguished itself by avoiding the controversies that have affected some other institutions, and that level of integrity must be preserved."
He further emphasized the vital bond between the two agencies, asserting, "The ICPC and DSS are like inseparable twins. This relationship must endure, regardless of our positions."
Mr. Chukwurah, in explaining the purpose of his visit, reiterated that it aimed to strengthen the existing ties and strategic collaboration between the two agencies. He described the DSS as a crucial partner in the national anti-corruption framework, expressing the ICPC's appreciation for their longstanding support. The RACC stressed that the DSS remains a vital ally in the ICPC's mission to promote integrity and accountability, underscoring that inter-agency collaboration is essential for achieving sustainable success in anti-corruption efforts.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from both agencies to deepen their collaboration, enhance intelligence sharing, and sustain joint efforts in the collective pursuit of a corruption-free Nigeria.
ICPC's Broader Commitment to Ethics and Integrity:
This commendation from the DSS is not an isolated incident, but rather a reflection of the ICPC's consistent efforts to promote ethical conduct across government agencies. The Commission annually deploys its Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) to evaluate Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on their adherence to ethical standards, transparency, and anti-corruption measures. This proactive approach aims to identify systemic gaps that could enable corruption and recommend targeted corrective actions.
