CAC Fights Sabotage Attempts on New AI Registration Portal
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is embroiled in a significant battle to protect its groundbreaking Intelligent Company Registration Portal (ICRP) from deliberate attempts at sabotage. This new AI-powered system, designed to revolutionize company registration in Nigeria by boosting efficiency and accuracy, has faced unexpected resistance from individuals seeking to undermine its integrity.
Launched earlier this month, the ICRP represents a monumental leap forward in Nigeria's corporate governance. It aims to drastically simplify and accelerate business registration, offering features like instant name reservation approvals – as easy as setting up an email account – and the ability to register a business using just a director's or proprietor's National Identification Number (NIN). The system is engineered to continuously learn and evolve, becoming smarter with each interaction.
However, the CAC has revealed that some users are attempting to manipulate the portal's artificial intelligence. They're doing this by intentionally submitting highly inappropriate and provocative names, such as "Boko Haram Training Hub" or "Explosives Making Enterprises." This mischievous behavior has, unfortunately, sparked public criticism and raised questions about the system's current effectiveness. Some legal practitioners and accredited CAC agents have even labelled it "unintelligent, inaccurate, and highly inefficient," citing a perceived lack of human oversight.
Despite these challenges, the CAC remains unwavering in its commitment to the ICRP's integrity and its core mission: to build a truly smart and user-friendly registration system. The Commission has urged the public to resist attempts by those trying to manipulate or undermine the registration process. Instead, it encourages genuine feedback that will help refine the platform. Looking ahead, the CAC plans to implement further enhancements, including Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and OTP verification for all transactions by the end of 2025, measures specifically designed to prevent unauthorized changes to company records.
