In a pointed open letter to President Bola Tinubu, prominent Ibadan businessman Mogaji Wole Arisekola has drawn attention to an ongoing wave of defections from the APC in Adamawa State. He described the trend as a looming threat to the party’s electoral stronghold in the Northeast ahead of 2027.
Arisekola urged the presidency to swiftly recalibrate political strategies and engage grassroots supporters to halt the exodus. He believes the APC must reassert its relevance to prevent further erosion of its base.
The letter also emphasised that failure to act could embolden opposition coalitions and reduce APC’s dominance in a key region. Arisekola’s intervention underscores growing concern among party stakeholders over internal cohesion.
Political analysts agree that Adamawa’s voter dynamics could be a bellwether for Northeast trends. If defections continue unchecked, the APC may face setbacks across multiple states.
