Senator Nwoko frames Anioma state creation as equity-driven, denies political motives
Senator Ned Nwoko (APC, Delta North) spoke out today, stating that calls for the creation of Anioma State are rooted in equity, justice, and cultural identity—not political ambition.
According to Nwoko, proponents seek fair distribution of resources and recognition, countering views that the initiative is politically motivated. He insisted the campaign is about representing the Anioma people’s aspirations.
The push has gained regional support among ethnic leaders and civil society, who argue it would enhance administrative efficiency and foster regional development. Critics fear it could fragment existing structures.
The issue is expected to gain traction as legislative stakeholders debate state creation bills, potentially reshaping Nigeria’s federal map ahead of the 2027 elections.
