Nigeria among tech hubs driving record mergers and acquisitions in African fintech and startups.
In the first half of 2025, African tech M&A activity hit a new high—29 deals completed across the continent, many led by Nigerian fintech startups consolidating regional presence. The surge reflects market maturation and investor confidence in digital services.
Nigeria is at the center of this growth. Its fintech sector has expanded rapidly, focusing on AI integration, embedded finance, and broader digital payment solutions. Investors are funding startups across mobile payments, cryptofinance, and insurtech.
Alongside fintech, digital hubs and gaming venues in Nigeria are adopting advanced tech—from AI surveillance to VR lounges—highlighting a consumer market hungry for innovation.
Still, challenges remain: regulatory hurdles, economic instability, and the global AI disruption threaten outsourcing models that once formed the backbone of Nigeria’s digital workforce ambitions.
