ADC slams Tinubu for opaque debt deals, urges Nigerians to demand accountability.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly lashed out at President Bola Tinubu over what it describes as a "shocking lack of transparency" in the administration’s handling of national debt. The opposition party is demanding full disclosure of all recent loan agreements entered into by the federal government.
ADC’s spokesperson called on Nigerians and lawmakers alike to insist on scrutiny of the terms, purposes, and beneficiaries of these debts. They argue that what they describe as soaring sovereign borrowing threatens future fiscal stability if left unchecked.
The party’s statement comes amidst growing public concern over economic hardship and inflation, with critics pointing to the rising debt burden as a contributing factor to worsening living conditions. ADC warns that without transparency, trust in government institutions will continue to erode.
In addition to demanding parliamentary oversight hearings, ADC has pledged to engage civil society groups to push for financial accountability. The party insists that full disclosure is a democratic imperative ahead of the 2027 elections.
