21 Perish in Fiery Kano-Zaria Road Crash
A horrific road accident on Sunday, July 6, 2025, claimed the lives of 21 individuals and left three others injured at Kasuwae Dogo, Dakatsalle, along the bustling Kano-Zaria Road. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the tragic figures, describing a devastating head-on collision that erupted in flames.
The incident occurred around 8:23 a.m., involving a DAF Trailer (registration number GWL 422 ZE) and a Toyota Hummer Bus (registration number KMC 171 YM). Preliminary investigations by the FRSC point to a route violation by the driver of the Toyota Hummer Bus as the direct cause of the catastrophic impact, which then led to both vehicles being engulfed in fire.
The charred remains of the deceased were tragically transported to the Nassarawa Hospital Mortuary in Kano. Meanwhile, the three injured victims are currently receiving medical attention at Garun Malam General Hospital. FRSC operatives, working alongside the Nigeria Police Force, swiftly moved to clear the wreckage and have since restored normal traffic flow on the vital artery.
In the wake of the tragedy, the FRSC extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The Corps also issued a stern reminder to all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, emphasizing the critical importance of avoiding dangerous overtaking, route violations, and unnecessary night travel to prevent future calamities of this nature. This incident echoes past tragedies, including a similar crash reported in a video titled "22 Kano Athletes Die in Road Accident -Fagge," underscoring the persistent need for heightened road safety awareness.
