However, Nigerian troops are equally determined not to be caught off guard. Although some soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the nation's territorial integrity, this has not dampened the morale of the troops on the front lines.
Major General Abdul Salam Abuakar, the commander of operations, has reaffirmed the army's commitment to ending the insurgency that has plagued the northeast for more than a decade. In the last two months, the military has been reorganizing and restrategizing. The Chief of Army Staff was on the ground just a week ago, and several changes have been implemented in the theater of operations. Additional platforms and personnel have been introduced.
In response to the military's efforts, terrorists have resorted to conducting multi-pronged attacks on several isolated and vulnerable deployments, using these incidents as propaganda. Nevertheless, the military remains fully resolved and equipped to bring the battle to a successful conclusion. Our troops are highly motivated, and their resilience is unwavering. Several welfare initiatives have been implemented by military leadership, which has further boosted the morale of our forces.
Recently, Nigerian troops successfully killed a top Boko Haram commander, Isawa, during a clearance operation in the Kukawa Council area of Borno State. Another significant victory occurred in Burate village of Biu Council, where a large number of terrorists were eliminated during an attack. The Borno State Governor, Baba Zulum, has expressed his appreciation for the gallantry displayed by the army. He visited the armed forces and civilian vigilantes to motivate and listen to them, ensuring that their challenges are addressed.
Additionally, with the support of the air component of Operation K, the military has killed another group of terrorists in Malampator village. The troops recovered rocket-propelled grenades, AK-47 rifles, and other sophisticated weapons used by the terrorists.
