Nigerian pastor has condemned the popular Christian song "popular Christian song "No Turning Back" by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor. The trending gospel song has garnered over 6 million views on YouTube in just two weeks. The clergyman claimed that the intention behind the song was to make people reflect on Luke 9:23, but he stated that it has merely evolved into "vibes".

“It will cause you to follow Jesus, not just by singing 'I have decided to follow Jesus.' What pains me about that song is that the person singing it lives contrary to the teachings of Jesus. The original 'I Have Decided' song was born out of a life-or-death situation—deny Jesus or be killed. It came from a true believer who has met with the Lord. When you sing that song, something resonates within you. As you sing, you are counting the cost. I have decided to follow Jesus means reflecting on the things you left behind and the sacrifices you make for remaining faithful to Him.”
Baba has responded to allegations stating that he is as sincere as any father of faith. As a result, many Nigerians have taken to social media to share their opinions on the matter. Here are some tweets:
One user, Ol, said, “This is total rubbish. What hairstyle did Jesus have? Why did the Pharisees and Sadducees repeatedly have issues with him? Why did he sit with an unrepentant divorcee at the well? He came for the lost. Creating exclusivism out of the gospel is what Jesus preached against.”
Another user, Farmer Aka, remarked, “There is too much conflict in this Christian community. If it’s not one pastor today, it will be some gospel artist tomorrow.”
