Just recently, we arrested over 120 young Nigerian men. Many no longer believe in hard work. I'm from a state that prides itself on education, but I see secondary school students hanging out in hotels, trying to scam people. Many students are driving cars without legitimate means of supporting themselves. Is this the legacy we want to leave for Nigeria?
The situation is even more dire; some of these individuals are involved in banditry. We have evidence that some engage in kidnapping when scamming is slow. People are aware of these activities. Some also launder money for politically exposed persons. The traditional methods of stealing government funds have shifted. Criminals now use cryptocurrencies to hide stolen money, demonstrating new and alarming trends in financial crime.
